My work time is divided between research and clinical practice. My research is on the horse's hoof and I work in collaboration with Dr. Robert Bowker at the Equine Foot Lab.
In my house and farm call veterinary practice, I provide acupuncture and chiropractic treatments for all animals. My focus is on your animal's whole health. That means we will address more than just the chief complaint of whatever is bothering your animal at the time you call for an appointment. We will consider emotional as well as physical issues. We will discuss nutrition, vaccines, parasite control, lifestyle issues and more.
My practice is primarily horses, dogs and cats. I also treat farm animals, exotic animals, and pocket pets!
For horses I offer specialized hoof care services too.
There is a trend in medicine today towards expensive high tech diagnostic and treatment options. My veterinary education gives me access to the newest information so that I can keep you informed about these options if they are indicated for your animal.
Yet my clinical experience has shown me that low-tech options are safe, successful, and affordable for a wide range of problems in the animal population.
Thus I have chosen to practice with minimal equipment, doing simple, low-risk procedures where animals are most comfortable in their own homes and pastures.
My goal is to enhance the human-animal bond by
(1) Helping you identify your animal's needs for health and longevity
(2) Meeting those needs using chiropractic, acupuncture, and nutritional therapy; or referring you to a different veterinarian if other modalities are more appropriate.
(3) Teaching you simple massage and acupressure techniques to enhance the treatments that I perform.
