The Sound Hoof
While working as a farrier (before I went to veterinary school) I wrote a series of client handouts on hoof health that evolved into a book on the subject. The book presents current hoof care theory and practice in clear and simple terms. Horse owners have found it to be a helpful resource in their quest to become informed about hoof care. Whether or not your horse has "problem feet", there is useful information in The Sound Hoof for all horse owners. I also recommend books by Pete Ramey and the founding father of natural hoofcare, Jaime Jackson.

If you are looking for additional hoof help, there are many many many websites on hoofcare! It can be overwhelming for anyone just beginning their quest to better understand the hoof. Several recommended sites for hoof research and farrier practice are listed at the end of the Farrier FAQs. If you have limited time, I urge you to spend it reading through Pete Ramey's website.
