Services:
• Hoof health evaluations for pre-purchase exams
• Trimming or shoeing consultations with your farrier
• Xray consultation with your primary care veterinarian
In the case of laminitis or other hoof problem that involves systemic disease, I will work with your farrier to establish the best hoof care plan for your horse.
In some cases I do the first trim myself. I then refer you to a farrier who will stay in touch with me and can ask for help at any time.
If you are having a pre-purchase exam done, I will consult with you on the hoof xrays. I will also do a hoof physical exam.
If you horse needs chiropractic or acupuncture, I can provide these services in conjunction with a hoof evaluation and treatment plan.
My farrier background gives me a "feet first" view of horses. No matter what an owner calls me out to examine, I always evaluate the feet. The feet can reflect problems of the whole body. For example if your horse has back pain, it is likely they also have foot abnormalities. If your horse has cracked feet, scratches, thrush, or other problem of the external tissues of the hoof and pastern, it could be related to diet, digestive function or other metabolic abnormality.
