My German Shepherd, Tyler, has had very bad spinal arthritis for over 8 years. He is now 11 years old. When he started dragging his back legs and had trouble going to the bathroom, I asked The Pet Stuff Place for an acupuncturist referral, and they told me about Lisa. Before we met Lisa, we were thinking that Tyler might not make it to the end of 2009. We have Lisa to thank for providing Tyler the quality of life he needed to stay with us into 2010. Lisa’s style is great – she is down-to-earth, an animal lover, always has the animal’s best interests at heart, and she has recommended many pain solutions. So far, despite Ty’s declining health from old age, the acupuncture keeps Tyler comfortable and walking for 2 weeks at a time. By improving Tyler’s quality of life, Lisa has kept me and my family happy and grateful every day to have him around.

My cat’s health and comfort have improved dramatically since he started receiving chiropractic, acupuncture, and laser treatments for his arthritis from Dr. Lancaster. Angus had been to other acupuncturists, but just wasn’t getting enough relief for his pain. Dr. Lancaster even helped solved the mystery of why he wouldn’t finish his meals – his TMJ was causing him pain! Once she got his neck loosened up, he was back to licking his bowl clean and even chasing the other cats around the house. We’re very grateful for the relief she’s brought Angus!

To the end there were two things Fred really enjoyed. The first thing was food. Fred was, after all, a Lab mix. The second thing was going to see Dr. Lisa. Even when getting up his ramp into the car was a struggle at the house, after his treatment with Dr. Lisa he seemed to dance out to the car. His eyes were a little brighter and his smile a little more broad.

Dealing with an old dog, and Fred was old when I got him from the shelter, with unknown medical history but physical evidence of a bad knee, a thyroid condition, and chronic ear infections is not easy. Using chiropractic and acupuncture treatments, Dr. Lisa gave Fred a measure of relief that even allowed us to reduce his need for prescription drugs. Fred’s quality and enjoyment of life was clearly enhanced by his visits with Dr. Lisa. In return he added her to his list of people whom he adored.

Lisa Lancaster, DVM brings a broad base of knowledge and hands-on, heart-felt skill to both the horses and dogs she treats in her practice. My upper level dressage horse, Sakebu sustained a severe fall involving muscle and deep tendon injury along his entire right side. He had serious, chronic scar and issues in his right psoas. There was nothing standard western veterinary medicine could do for him. Thousands of dollars were spent on diagnostics, injections and two major veterinary hospital work-ups. I was told to “get another horse”. One does not give up on their best friend and partner so easily. Knowing that western medicine’s myopic approach does not come close to holding all the answers, I changed and substantially broadened my approach in treating my horse. Lisa worked with me and Sakebu over a nearly two year period using a multi-level integrated approach that involved acupuncture, chiropractic, laser treatment, homeopathy, nutritional analysis and changes, farrier review, natural dentistry, saddle fitting, and rehab with myself and my riding teacher. All this was done with a presence, sensitivity, compassion and availability that I have never witnessed in my 25 plus years of involvement with horses. She now sees him for maintenance. My 18 year old dressage horse is forward, soft, even and supple. His powerful hind quarters are fluid, his piaffe is lovely, his mouth is like butter, his poll is mobile and he happily works and schools in a way that outdistances horses half his age.

In addition to this I had the privilege of watching Lisa offer a variety of comfort care treatments to my neighbor’s aged Samoyed who was dying of renal failure. Lisa made this dog’s last months beautiful, giving the guardians time to say good-bye to their life-long friend and companion. She also opened my perspective to a more gentle and natural way of caring for my Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy, who is now an incredible two-year old bundle of energy.

Lisa Lancaster has a rare gift of presence and honesty. I have recommended her to many horse and dog friends

I cannot thank Dr. Lancaster enough for her patience, sensitivity and amazing diagnostic skills. My horse, Eli, had a mysterious left hind leg lameness and the cause could not be found by equine lameness experts despite xray and ultrasound studies. They suggested an expensive MRI or simply retirement of my 15 year old horse. A good friend suggested that I have Dr. Lancaster evaluate and work on my horse. She found multiple musculoskeletal problems and began to work on correcting the problems. Ultimately, her work resulted in complete resolution of all lameness and allowed us to continue and advance with our dressage work.

Dr. Lisa helped us with rehabilitation of more than half a dozen dogs in the past two years. Some were hard cases, some just needed a little help. Every one was a success.

Being a foster of Saint Bernards, we receive many companion animals with issues in need of professional rehabilitation. The work she has done to help our foster dogs has been invaluable. She really does some remarkable work.

Now, her work with CRCG which does a lot of water therapy for dogs with physical issues has expanded her ability to help using a wider range of rehabilitation. If anyone has a dog with issues, I believe her medical services are the finest available.

Lisa’s view on nutrition has deeply affected the way my company approaches nutrition for dogs and cats. Her input has helped us reach the goals we set for ourselves.
